The Strong Interest Inventory® is simply is the most respected and effective tool for career and educational decision-making worldwide. What this jewel of an instrument does is provide insight into a person’s interests and personal style preferences to facilitate your career decision-making process. It asks short, insightful questions about a person’s preferences regarding occupations, subject areas, activities, leisure activities, dealing with people and personal characteristics.

Many decades ago psychologists and sociologists reached the conclusion through a multitude of research findings that people employed in the same field, who are successful and fulfilled, tend to have common interests in life regardless of their college major or the type of education. They are comfortable in similar work environments. Therefore, for an individual to discover their career identity he/she must consider their interests and preferred work/learning styles compared to those who are currently employed, successful and fulfilled in various occupations, among various other factors – and this is where the Strong Interest Inventory® comes in.

This thorough career-planning tool is applicable to high school students, college students, and adults alike, and has proven validity and reliability across cultures. As the job market is constantly changing and new occupations and specializations arise, this assessment is regularly revised and updated to ensure that it is in line with contemporary market trends.

The Strong Interest Inventory® is a closed assessment that takes on average 45 minutes to complete, after which a detailed and personalized report is generated and thoroughly analyzed by the Strong Certified Practitioner. The practitioner then sits with the individual in an extensive heart-to-heart session for a full debrief, interpretation and fine-tuning of the findings and what they mean.

Remember that the list of college majors or occupations recommended in the report are based on the answers you have provided and only mean you have several directions to go through and explore with your career coach.
